5 Police Officers Shot Dead at Dallas Protests
How to Overcome Racism

In Dallas, Texas, 5 police officers were shot dead and 7 others injured at a Black Lives Matter rally. The shooter was allegedly screaming at the police that he wanted to kill white people and white officers.

There were two recent cases in Louisiana and Minnesota where police officers killed black men. A video clip of these incidents was uploaded on the Internet, and voices of outrage have been rising

Racism: A Problem Deeply Rooted in the U.S.

According to The Guardian, 1,146 people were killed by police officers on duty in 2015. Since the beginning of this year, 569 people have already been killed by police. When we organize it in this manner, one thing is clear: it is outrageous. (http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2015/jun/01/the-counted-police-killings-us-database)

Cases where officers kill black people are unfortunately not rare. A very notable case happened in Missouri, August 2014, when a white police officer killed Michael Brown, a black teenager. Protests against racism arose throughout the country when the white officer was pardoned. In December 2014, roles were reversed when two New York police officers were shot dead by a black man. It is almost a war.

Protests start all over the country every time black people appear to be mistreated by police. There is a fear that this latest shooting will add fuel to already heated racial conflict in the U.S.

People Reincarnate Into Various Countries and Races

How Do We Solve This Deeply Rooted Racial Problem in the U.S.?

In a country where many people of different races and nationalities live side-by-side, disputes and quarrels are inevitable. In order to realize that difference in race is not actually a ‘difference’ at all, it is important to have a spiritual worldview; an understanding that we are spiritual beings above and beyond the mere physical side.

People are born as babies, go through many experiences, and eventually die. If we only look at those few decades of our lives, it is difficult to think beyond differences in skin colour and race. To go beyond this, we need to grasp the concept of reincarnation: an idea not taught by Christianity, but popular in the East.

Reincarnation works like this. You may now be living as an American person, but in past lives you may have been born in different places such as Japan, China, India and Africa. In the same way, you may be a white person now, but in a past life you may have been a black person experiencing racial oppression. If we can come to grips with this idea of reincarnation, we will come to the conclusion that it is pointless to discriminate people by race.

We Are Not Different, But Are One

There is a teaching that is a prerequisite for overcoming differences in race: the idea that ‘you and other people are one’. Master Ryuho Okawa, founder of Happy Science, says in his book “The Imperishable Laws” the following:

“We may think of ‘I’ as separate from ‘Them’, ‘this nationality’ from ‘that nationality’; we may see people of different races and skin colours: white, yellow, black and so on. But in fact, all of these different kinds of people are made from the same divine will: “Humans, Come!” just like how a prism divides light into seven colours. When you reach this truth, you will become one with one another. Actions derived from this understanding of ‘becoming one’, are true actions of love.”

Despite 80% of the population being Christians, problems of religious conflict and racism have long been left unresolved in the U.S. A new religion is needed to solve these problems: one that teaches us how to bring together different religions, and teaches the spiritual truth.

If you agree, world religion, Happy Science, may be of interest to you.
