“Our Rights Are Given To Us By God”
Trump's Fourth of July Speech

On 4 July the U.S. celebrated Independence Day. In the lead up to Independence Day, hundreds of former soldiers gathered at the Celebrate Freedom Rally at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington.. President Trump gave an address at the rally.

In his speech Trump praised the honorable war veterans. The speech had a religious air to it as he made many references to the creator. Below are the main points from his address.

“America is a land rich with heroes,” said Trump in honor of the veterans who fought for the country. Applause of gratitude broke out in the audience as Trump personally saluted Luis Avila, who fought in WWII, Iraq and Afghanistan, and lost his leg during a reconnaissance mission.

“Our Rights Are Given To Us By God”

“Since the signing of the Declaration of Independence 241 years ago, America always affirmed that liberty comes from our creator,” said Trump. “Our rights are given to us by God, and no earthly force can ever take those rights away.
That is why my administration is transferring power out of Washington and returning that power back where it belongs: to the people.”

There was a standing ovation at the end of the speech.

Trump is seeking to do things such as reducing corporate taxes to encourage a free competitive market and return “power back . . . to the people”. He is also abolishing regulations that might hinder a free competitive market. These policies that uphold liberty all have a religious underpinning.

The Importance of Religious Liberty

“Our religious liberty is enshrined in the very first amendment in the Bill of Rights. The American founders invoked our creator four times in the Declaration of Independence,”

said Trump.

“Benjamin Franklin reminded his colleagues at the Constitutional Convention to begin by bowing their heads in prayer. Inscribed on our currency are the words: ‘In God We Trust’.”

Patriotism and Unity to Make a Great and Powerful Country

Trump mentioned the importance of national unity.

“A nation is the sum of its citizens, their hopes, their dreams, their aspirations. America is a land rich with history, traditions, and values. And as we have seen tonight, what a group this is tonight, America is also a land rich with heroes.”

“And though we have many stories, we all share one home and one glorious destiny, a destiny that’s getting better and better every single day. And whether we are black or brown or white, and you have heard me say this before, we all bleed the same red blood. We all salute the same great flag.”

This speech was overflowing with Trump’s religious and political conviction, and moved many people. It is a great regret that many in the mainstream media choose not to cover these important speeches, and instead focus on memes on Trump’s twitter account.

Trump is now facing the challenge of whether he can revive America’s faith in God.
