New Year Greetings from The Editor-in-Chief

Happy New Year!

As many people will agree, 2018 probably will be the year when the Second Korean War begins. U.S. President Donald Trump seems to have already made that decision.

The focal point in East Asia, however, seems to be China more than North Korea.

Last December, in his speech on the new national security strategy, President Trump said that the engagement policy that started in the 90s to absorb China into the democratic camp was a mistake.

In other words, a perfect example would be the manner in which the U.S. had economically supported China and treated them well, expecting that they would eventually democratize, but this idea proved to be a miscalculation. As the saying goes, “Don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched”.

As Trump rightly stated, “Contrary to our hopes, China expanded its power at the expense of the sovereignty of others”.

He announced that he will change the China policy that had been in place for over two decades. The U.S. is confronting North Korea, but at the same time they plan to confront China.

“China Will Dominate The World”

Trump’s opponent and Chairman of China, Xi Jinping, is also starting to speak his mind. At the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party, he declared that by 2035 China’s economy will surpass that of America, and by 2049 “the Chinese race will dominate all other races”.

Mao Zedong the father of Communist China died at 82 having ruled a dictatorship. If Xi Jinping lives until 2035 he will be 82. His purpose in setting 2035 as a goal probably indicates his ambition to remain the at the top until that age.

Historically China has invaded and dominated neighbouring countries under the ideology that the Chinese Emperor was the ruler of all mankind, and the stronger the country, the greater their territory ought to be.

In his speech, Xi Jinping even said the State can arrest people without legal grounds. In other words, those in power can detain and convict any people they don’t like.

The same goes for neighbouring countries: be it in the South or East China Sea, China will invade any country at will without recognising individual sovereignty.

A fearful country is about to rise to the top of the world.

The Challenge and Response of Civilizations

President Trump believes that each person is a child of God and each country has the right to decide its own future.

In his speech at the UN General Assembly in September of last year he said, “Strong, sovereign nations let their people take ownership of the future and control their own destiny. And strong, sovereign nations allow individuals to flourish in the fullness of the life intended by God.”

This vision stands in stark contrast to Xi Jinping who treats his people like insects and does not recognize the sovereignty of other countries. China and the U.S. now face precisely what British historian Arnold Toynbee (1889-1975) called the “challenge and response” of civilizations.

Toynbee held that history is made of civilizations that challenge and respond to each other. Right now, the Chinese civilization is challenging the current modern civilization created by the West.

How then should we protect the modern civilization and open the gates to the next age? Toynbee held that civilizations do not have the power to save themselves; it takes the power of a complex religion to save a civilization.

The power of a complex religion is required to save the modern civilization.

Complex Religion Will Save Civilization

How to respond to China’s challenge and protect the modern civilization is one of the central themes in the book, “The Laws of Faith” by Master Ryuho Okawa, founder and CEO of Happy Science.

“Democratic states have the people as its end. The people are the ends, not the means. On the contrary, for totalitarian states, the people are the means. Totalitarianism uses many people to serve the state’s desires. In Democracy this is not the case. For people, what is important is how to become happy, how to attain your dreams, how to gain freedom and growth.”
“In the end the people have a right to pursue their own happiness. The question of ‘love in politics’ is about how to make the people happy.”

Happy Science now faces its own challenge as to whether it can become the complex religion that will protect democracy and the people’s right to pursue happiness.

Prophetic Spiritual Messages

Happy Science had prophesied the Trump-Xi battle a long time ago.

When it was announced that Xi Jinping was to become the next Chairman of China in October 2010, Master Okawa recorded the spiritual messages of Xi’s guardian spirit.

Xi’s guardian spirit said:

“The Western civilization, where Anglo-Saxons have dominated the world since the Industrial Revolution, will come to an end in the 21st century. The age of the Great Chinese Empire will begin.”

Thus Master Okawa had predicted Xi Jinping’s world domination ambitions 7 years ago.

With President Trump, Master Okawa recorded the spiritual message of George Washington (Trump’s past life) in September of last year.

Trump’s guardian spirit said:

“I will rebuild America’s national power, reset world balance, make America the world’s greatest power again to take leadership. I will realize this in the next 8 years.”

Trump has been criticized by the liberal media as the worst American president; Trump’s real thoughts, however, are clearly apparent in this spiritual message.
